Impacting lives by proclaiming the Word of God to make Christ known throughout the Seattle area.

Woodin Valley Baptist Church was started by the Lord beginning with the vision and burden on the hearts of myself and my wife, Kathy, while we were yet finishing my bachelors at Baptist Bible College in Springfield, Missouri. Pastor Jimmy Walker and the folks at Southside Baptist Tabernacle in Ypsilanti, Michigan (Kathy’s home church) commissioned us to represent them in traveling out to Washington to plant this independent Baptist work.

We’ve enjoyed the richest fruit over the years of several of our young people who are now pastors and pastor’s wives serving the Lord in other independent Baptist churches.

The first services for Woodin Valley Baptist Church were held in December of 1985. A year later the church organized with 23 members, changing its status from a mission outreach to an independent, autonomous Baptist church. Since then the Lord blessed the church with a gradual steady growth of a dedicated membership throughout several changes of locations until securing the real estate we presently occupy.

The church's first meeting place was the Woodinville Lion's Club, formerly known as the Mountain View Improvement club on 168th Ave. NE. in the heart of Woodinville. From there the church located in downtown Woodinville in the Woodgate Mall for about five years.

The
church then purchased 4 acres of prime real estate on 228th St. SE. The county furnished the conditional use permits in 1996. Before building the facility, the church met under a blue and white tent. Notwithstanding the “fond memories,” we were glad to get into a building.

The membership realized the culmination of a dream held for over thirteen years - erecting our own church facility. The ground breaking service was held Sunday, May 25, 1997. After securing the building permits the members labored together to build the 8,254 square foot sanctuary and Sunday school facility we now occupy.

The church, as we know is not a building, but the people. The Lord has blessed this place with seeing many affected by the Lord. Souls have been saved and impacted for eternity!

An appropriate verse I’ve claimed in seeing this church grow and develop is Eccl. 11:4 "He that observeth the wind shall not sow; and he that regardeth the clouds shall not reap." "If we were to wait till the situation was perfect, we would have never moved forward. If we were to have halted in the face of opposition, we wouldn't be rejoicing to see blessings today!

With so many hardships and drawbacks for independent Baptist churches in this - such a needy "mission field", it is good to see the Lord still able to bless His people and anxious to honor His Word! The next construction project before us is erecting the three story, 10,000 square foot classroom and fellowship hall building to accommodate the growth God is blessing us with. We look forward to latching onto God’s will for a future as bright as the promises of God. Praise the Lord for His goodness, direction and providence. We have much to thank the Lord for today!
